New cats join our volunteer crew

Those of you who are regular visitors to the M-Line web site will remember our famous carbarn cats - Sherman and Handley, both of whom passed away within the last six months. Well, having become attached to having a pair of felines prowling about the barn, we just had to replace them with two new cats - Stone and Webster. Sherman and Handley were named for stops on two of the North Texas old interurban lines. The new new cats' names honor a famous streetcar company.

The Stone and Webster Company was an important player in the development of the Dallas street railway system. The company is also famous for its unusual trolley car roof design. Our 186 (The Green Dragon) is a surviving example of that type. Stone and Webster design cars also ran in Waco, Texas.

The kittens were born on the 4th of July this year and we became their new owners six weeks later. As they are almost identical twins, you can only tell them apart by their collars - Stone's is blue and Webster's is purple. If you're visiting Uptown, take time to stop by the car barn and meet the most affectionate and newest members of the M-Line crew.
