In Memory and Honor of Dotty K. Griffith

McKinney Avenue Trolley lost a dear friend and volunteer, Dotty Griffith on September 13, 2021.  Dotty served as Restaurant Chair of the Trolley Taste of Uptown since its inception in 2019.  Under her leadership, the annual event supporting the McKinney Avenue Trolley has achieved great success, benefiting the participating restaurants along the M-Line, as well.  She served in that role again in 2020, continuing as Co-Chair in 2021 even as she fought cancer with her usual strong determination.

A 5th generation Texan, Griffith was a Texas original, remembered by friends and colleagues alike as fierce and fearless, intelligent and loyal, and amazingly quick-witted.  Food journalist, cookbook author, teacher, volunteer par excellence – she rose to every situation with the same drive and energy.

We each have indelible memories of Dotty, specific to our relationships with her. For us, they always included her thoughtful appraisal, commitment to whatever task she undertook, her incredible smile and usually, raucous laughter.

We will miss her more than words can describe. But, as her dear friends have noted, oh, what we all would have missed had we not known her.  We at McKinney Avenue Trolley are certainly better having our lives intersect with hers, and are thankful for the time we have had with Dotty.
