Who We Are
The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that operates the M-Line Trolley.
The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority (MATA) was founded in 1983 to return streetcar service to Dallas.
From its first trolley in July 1989, the M-Line has been celebrated by millions of Dallas residents, workers, businesses and visitors.
Our mission is to link the past to the present, providing safe, reliable, and convenient public transportation within Uptown and Downtown Dallas.

- Sustainability: A car-free lifestyle is possible for our riders. We’ve also partnered with the Green Mountain Energy and ProStar Energy Solutions to further enhance our sustainability.
- Street Safety: Streetcars calm vehicular traffic, making streets safer for pedestrians. We also enhance walkability by making car-free living a viable option.
