Exciting Changes Coming to M-Line

The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority (MATA) is pleased to announce several improvements to M-Line service, including a new rider app.

Riders may contact us with any questions.

The M-Line has switched from frequency-based service to a fixed timetable.

This allows riders to plan trips around predictable departure times.

  • Service hours remain unchanged.
  • A full schedule for every stop will soon be published to Google/Apple Maps, MATA’s rider app, and other transit apps.
  • Information on integration with third-party apps, including DART GoPass, will be provided as it becomes available.

Uptown Station Changes

To provide predictable service:

  • Trolleys now depart Uptown Station at scheduled time.
  • Early arrivals may wait several minutes to depart on time.
  • Riders are welcome to board after motormen open the car’s doors.

Note: Most apps do not provide accurate directions from the underground DART station.

  • Follow signs to the West Portal for escalators or inclinators to Uptown Station.

New Rider App

MATA has launched a new rider app that includes:

  • real-time updates and ETAs
  • trip planner and step-by-step directions
  • notifications of approaching trolleys
  • personalized alerts for departure and arrival changes

Download the TripShot app and select “McKinney Avenue Transit Authority” as the service. Links are available at https://mata.org/app

New Signage

Every M-Line stop will now feature a map or sign with:

  1. Stop name
  2. Short URL to quickly view next arrivals
  3. Access to the new mobile-friendly Info page.
  4. Link to download the Rider App

In addition, MATA is installing new in-car signage for rider convenience.

MATA will provide standardized GTFS Data so developers may include M-Line service in transit apps.

Developers can access the data and terms of use on the GTFS Data page.

More information on integrations with third-party apps will be released at a later date.
