MATA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides transportation services in heritage streetcars.
Our mission is:
- to provide safe, clean, reliable, and enjoyable public transportation free of charge
- to operate and maintain the unique, historic ambiance and character of our vintage trolley system.
- to provide schools, businesses, associations and the public access to our technical and historical links to Dallas’ past.
This effort has been ongoing since 1989 and has been made possible by contributions from DART, Uptown Dallas, Inc. Downtown Dallas, Inc., National Transportation Database funding and contributions from local businesses, residents, riders, train enthusiasts and supporters of our initiative.
We’re committed to offering free and equitable transit service. Instead of charging a fare, we ask riders to give what they think best.
